Pastor Jerry & Cheryl - The Parsonage

Praise the Lord for over 100 volunteers in 7 weeks of work. In April Jerry & Cheryl Frey celebrated 25 years of ministry at Faith Christian Fellowship in Pownal, Vermont. 2013 began with an ordination service for Peter Grimes. Hope Fellowship Church began it’s first services on Easter Sunday night 2013 at GRACE Christian School. Mark Ballard president of Northeastern Baptist College agreed to partner with Peter to begin this new work. Three of our members have taken classes at Northeastern Baptist College which has been a blessing.

Before the mission teams arrived to build the parsonage our own church men put a new roof on one of our church families’ trailer.

Teams began to come in June to prepare the foundation. A team led by Gary Holland set up the forms and steel and poured the slab foundation.
A framing team led by Bryan Jackson spent one week getting the parsonage under roof. Jeff Maynard shared the gospel at a community dinner where 8-10 people responded to the gospel message.
Rick Brewer from Main Street Baptist in Spindale ,NC led a VBS/work team to Pownal for the third year. Mike Nelson with Carpenter’s Hands Ministry led a three week team to get the parsonage exterior completed and oversaw the plumbing and electrical rough in. Bryan Jackson and Kyle Carver led a second team to install the sheetrock and build more relationships with local volunteers. A second community dinner and concert and gospel presentation resulted in a young girl giving her life to Christ. Our prayers have been answered to see the Lord not just do a miracle in building a much needed parsonage but to see visible results of people trusting Jesus through the process. To God be the glory!
In November we began to challenge our congregation to share the My Hope for America, Billy Graham DVD with their friends and neighbors. We invited the local men who have been helping on the project for pizza and to view the DVD. Five men and four children came. Three of the men responded to the gospel message so clearly presented.

1. Pray for the new believers and those who have yet to respond
2. Pray for volunteers to assist in finish taping, painting and trim work.
3. Pray for the funds needed to complete the project.
4. Pray for the funds needed for appliances: Ref. , electric oven, DW, washer and dryer

Thanks for each one who has sacrificed time, energy, prayer, financial support and notes of encouragement. We do not grow weary in well doing for in due season we are reaping a great harvest!

Blessings Jerry & Cheryl Frey

PS In April Jerry was appointed as one of the Co-Directors for the Green Mountain Baptist Association. Pray as the 34 churches in our association face the future. Over one third of the existing churches are in need of a plan to restart. Pastors are retiring and we have plans to start eleven new churches in Vermont in 2014, towns and teams have been identified. Pray with us as we seek funds and a regional coordinator for the Northeast Kingdom. Pray for the pastors and wives who are facing battles with cancer and are underfunded. Pray for funds and teams for future parsonage projects.

Looking Ahead to 2014

Some goals and ministry plans

Prayer – We would like to establish a regular time of prayer in the new year as a church family and also encourage each family to pray daily for God’s direction, protection, forgiveness and personal daily needs.

Scripture Reading – We want to challenge each person who attends FCF to read through the entire Bible and to make God’s word a daily part of their lives.

Discipleship – Our goal is to provide basic training for new believers and next step training for all who are willing to meet individually or as a small group. We will be looking to provide small group training before Worship on Sunday morning.

Fellowship – We want to encourage each person who attends FCF to get to know one another. To do this we schedule regular monthly covered dish lunches and hope to add additional times of fellowship throughout the new year.

Evangelism – We are encouraging each family that attends FCF to invite friends and family into their home to view the Billy Graham, My Hope for America DVD. We also are encouraging each person who attends to pass out the Pocket Testament League Gospel of John

Worship – We will continue to provide a time of prayer, scripture reading, music, mission focus, fellowship and Biblical preaching each Sunday morning. Our goal is for folks to come prepared to meet God. The purpose is to glorify Him and to encourage one another. We also encourage each family to have a daily time where the scriptures are read and prayers are offered for the church community and missionaries.

Summer Ministry Plan:

We are scheduling mission teams to assist in summer ministry.

We are requesting teams to come in June, July and August

We are asking each team to be involved in prayer walking, evangelism and or service projects in the community.

We are asking each team to complete the week of ministry with a Community Picnic

To date two teams are in the planning process:

Rick Brewer would like to bring a team for their fourth year. We hope to partner with the N. Pownal Congregational Church and New Hope Fellowship at GRACE to provide a Sports Camp for one week in June or July.

Another new team has enquired about doing work projects at the church and in the community.

Firewood Ministry: We are planning to launch a ministry to provide firewood for needy church families as well as those in need in the community.
